NECBL All-Star Game

The NECBL All-Star game takes place on Sunday at Robbie Mills Field, headlining one of the best prospect showcases in all of summer collegiate baseball.

As 58 of NECBL's best prospects take the field in a day of events, fans get a chance to see Major League Baseball's future. This has been displayed since 1994, as the NECBL has been a breeding ground for future talent.

A full nine-inning contest, the game not only gives fans a chance to watch future MLB stars in action, but also gives each player an opportunity to prove why he is worthy of being considered one of baseball’s top talents. Considering the talent that has been featured in past editions, including Chris Ianetta, Andy Sonnastine and Andrew Bailey, players should consider it a honor.

Last year in Vermont at the Recreation Field, the Mountaineers Johnny Mishu took home the MVP as the West went on to win 11-6. In the Home Run Derby earlier in the day, Laconia's Danny Collins won with five home runs in the final round.

Players to Watch

John Miles, Western Division, Vermont Mountaineers
Miles has been dominant this summer for the Mountaineers, holding a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA over 24 innings pitched. He's yet to give up an earned run and has also added 20 strikeouts to just six walks. Meticulous in his pitching, Miles rarely makes mistakes and can get out of jams that he finds himself in. He will be starting for the West and has the chance to really prove himself against a potent East lineup that features hitters like Christian Muscarello and Steve Anderson.

Will Blalock, Eastern Division, Laconia Muskrats
Blalock will be facing off against Miles in the All-Star game, as he takes the role of the Eastern Division started. Will holds a 2-1 record with a 0.96 ERA over four starts and 28 innings pitched. He's also struck out 22 batters and walked just seven. Blalock will also have a tough lineup to face, including Keene's JP Sportman who is arguably the best hitter in the NECBL.

Ben Roberts, Eastern Division, Newport Gulls
Most likely the best hitter on the Eastern team, Roberts has had quite the summer for the Newport Gulls. A 7th Round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Washington St product has done very well, hitting .336 with a league leading 14 doubles as well as 29 runs scored and 18 RBIs. West pitchers will have their hands full with Roberts and the rest of the strong East lineup, including his teammate Steve Anderson.
