Here is the Eastern Division Roster*
PITCHERS
Newport pitchers fill the ranks of the Eastern Division pitching staff, but not to be lost in the shuffle is the starting pitcher, Laconia's Will Blalock. Blalock is 2-1 with a 0.96 ERA over four starts and 28 innings pitched. He's also struck out 22 and walked just three. Another key component is the closer, Sanford's Steven Rice (left). Rice, a Vanderbilt product, has been dominant out of the pen for the Mainers this summer. He has a 3-1 record with three saves and a 1.13 ERA over seven appearances out of the pen, totaling 16 innings pitched. Over those innings, he's racked up 28 strikeouts and just seven walks. Newport fills pretty much the rest of the staff, as they add the next three pitchers- Brett Graves, Kyle Wilcox and Brett Lilek. It's not a surprise, as Newport's staff leads the league with a 2.05 team ERA and is second with a 1.17 WHIP and .221 opponent batting average.
Ocean State and Newport anchor the East offense, with five players starting in the field, including the Waves Mike Gerber (left). Gerber is starting in the outfield with a .370 batting average and two home runs, 17 RBIs and 13 runs scored. The East outfield is stacked as well, as Gerber is joined by Plymouth's Andrew Santomauro (.325, 15 stolen bases, 17 runs scored) and Newport's Ben Roberts (.336, 14 doubles, 18 RBIs, 29 runs scored). The infield is just as powerful, as Ocean State shortstop Christian Muscarello is the leader at short. Muscarello is hitting .355 on the year with 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He's not the only star in the East infield as first baseman Steve Anderson from the Gulls (.242, nine doubles, three home runs), second baseman Troy Black from Sanford (.338, 13 runs scored, 8 RBIs) and cornerstone Joel McKeithan from Newport (.317, 13 RBIs, 13 runs scored) rounds out the infield. Finally, behind the plate is the Mainers Cole Martin who closes the book on a possibly-high scoring offense.
SNUBS
The biggest snub noticeable takes the form of the Waves infielder Caden Bailey (left). Bailey is hitting .321 with 25 runs scored, 20 RBIs and three home runs. He's listed as an alternate, but his numbers warrant a better spot. Newports Sean Hartnett didn't even make it, even though he's one of the top pitchers in the Eastern Division. He's made eight appearances over 15.1 innings pitched, with a 1.15 ERA and a 2-1 record out of the pen. The other snub comes in the form of Ocean State reliever Oliver Powers. Powers is 3-1 with three saves over eight appearances and 17.1 innings pitched. He's also struck out 17 batters and a 1.56 ERA. The next and final snub is New Bedford outfielder Ryan Plourde who has a .280 average with 19 runs scored and 20 walks.
