Transactions: Mountaineers add pitchers, catcher, Louisville eliminated

The Mountaineers have added two pitchers and a catcher, as well as a duo of players who were knocked out of the college world series. In the past couple of the days, Vermont has added three pitchers with another on the way- a big change from when manager Joe Brown had just seven on the staff.

The Mountaineers have added two more pitchers, both coming from the University of Alabama-Huntsville. The duo of right-hander Dalton Goss and left-hander Daniel Koger is a welcome sight for the Mountaineers, who've signed three pitchers now in the last few days after having just three relievers.

Goss pitched this spring for Martin Methodist in Tennessee, posting a 2.40 ERA over 14 relief appearances. He struck out 24 in just 15 innings of work and held opponents to a .218 batting average.

Koger, on the other hand, pitched at Auburn this year. He appeared in 13 games, starting three while throwing 20 innings and striking out 16.

Both pitchers are transferring to UAH for next year and will have the opportunity to play with future teammates Chandler Brock and Ben Hall.

LOUISVILLE KNOCKED OUT, STRADER AND SOLAK COMING
Louisville saw their 2014 season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to Texas in the College World Series, which brings two more players into Vermont. 2013 returnee Robert Strader, a left-handed pitcher and Nick Solak, an infielder will make their way to Montpelier.

Strader was a dominant reliever for Vermont last season as he held a 0.72 ERA over 25 innings of work with 24 strikeouts. He carried his success over to Louisville as he had a 1.93 ERA over 14 innings while holding opponents to a .191 average.

Solak led the Cardinals in RBIs in the postseason with eight and led Louisville past Kennesaw State in the super regionals with three hits and three RBIs. The freshman hit .351 over 47 games (26 starts) with a .455 on base percentage and 29 runs and 25 RBIs.

MOUNTAINEERS SIGN NORTHEASTERN CATCHER
Northeastern redshirt sophomore Josh Treff has signed with Vermont. He started 53 games at catcher this past season and hit .208 with 19 RBIs and 14 runs as well as seven doubles.

He's now the third catcher on the Mountaineers roster, joining Evan Harasta (Albany) and Trey West (Le Moyne).

The road to Omaha began today as the NCAA released the 2014 D-I baseball bracket field- 64 teams divided into 16 regionals, which match up with their super regional partners. The Mountaineers have nine 2014 players on three different teams in the tournament- all regional hosts. Here's a breakdown of each team, the players and when/who they'll be playing.
