The Vermont Mountaineers have been playing baseball since 2003 at the historic recreation field in Montpelier, Vermont. Out of these years of playing, the Mountaineers have produced some very talented baseball players. Since the 2013 NECBL All-Star game is approaching, here is my rundown on some of the best players ever to come to Vermont and don the green and white of the Mountaineers.
AJ Pollock, of, Arizona Diamondbacks
Pollock has been stellar for the Dbacks so far this year, appearing in 82 games and is hitting .253 with 23 doubles, six home runs and 24 RBIs. An essential part of the Diamondbacks outfield, Pollock has dazzled in the outfield as well.

Christian Friedrich, p, Colorado Rockies
Friedrich has spend 2013 in Triple A with a 4.30 ERA over four starts and he has a 0-1 record. He is currently on the 7-Day Disabled List, but has had a fairly successful Minor League career. Elbow inflammation has set him back a bit, but the Rockies still have faith in him and are keeping him in Triple A for now.

David Carpenter, lhp, Atlanta Braves
Carpenter started the 2013 season in Triple A, but has since then been promoted to the Braves bullpen and has quietly been one of the most efficient relievers on the squad. Over 22 appearances totaling 30 innings pitched, Carpenter has a 2-0 record with a 1.80 ERA and 34 strikeouts.

Blake Lalli, c, Milwaukee Brewers
Lalli has bounced around, from the Cubs to the A's and now has settled in Triple A Nashville. He's been there since his 16-game call up, where he hit just .125 for Milwaukee. Lalli is hitting .274 over 51 games with six home runs and 19 RBIs.

Darin Mastroianni, of, Minnesota Twins
Drafted by Toronto, Mastroianni was claimed by the Twins on waivers and has spent the 2013 season on the active roster, but on the bench. Darin has played just eight games, and has only gotten nine at bats.

Rob Delaney, rhp, Los Angeles Angels
Delaney has also bounced around, appearing as a member of the Twins, Marlins, Orioles and now the Angels. He was traded in April from Baltimore, and now is pitching for the Angels Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees. He's got a 5.14 ERA over 21 innings pitched and 13 appearances.

Nick Greenwood, lhp, St. Louis Cardinals
Greenwood was drafted by the Padres but was sent to St. Louis in a 2010 trade that included Ryan Ludwick and Jake Westbrook. He's moved from Double A to Triple A this season, and currently has a 5.66 ERA over 11 appearances for the Memphis Redbirds.
